Noob question regarding A/F control
So...I'm reading on the forum that under closed loop, part throttle conditions the engine will try to maintain 14.x (stoich) and during WOT the engine management system goes to the programmed tables (using multipliers??) to run at a pre-determined A/F ratio.
My question is this...From reading on the FI forums the FI folks want to maintain 12.2 or so A/F during WOT, why would you not want to maintain this under part throttle? Or would you?
Looking at it another way. If I lean into the gas from 2k RPM to 5K RPM (not WOT, thus trying to maintain 14.x) what's the difference if I floor it from 2K to 5K? (WOT, AF= 12.x) Wouldn't the appropriate A/F be the same? I'm new to tuning so maybe I'm missing something very simple...
