Default Are LS1 F-Bodies Good, Reliable Cars?

I'm in the market for one of these cars really soon. However, I will be financing it for four years. I have a good job that i like and make more than enough money to afford one and I'll only settle for an '02 WS6 with less than 40k miles. The drive back and forth to work is about 58 miles, which is on mon/wed/fri and school and back is about 22 miles on tues/thurs, not to mention just b/s driving around. Is this many miles weekly going to beat the car up? Am I asking for trouble? If so, I'd rather just put my money into a 350z or G35 coupe. Any tips, opinions? etc..

Thanks in advance..

They seem to be very reliable mechanically. If you take care of it and maintain it properly then there's no reason you shouldn' see 140k miles out of it.

There are people on here with over 200,000 miles. I have nearly 100,000 on mine. No problems.

make sure you get one that runs good and hasent been molested.

no reason you shouldnt see over 200,000 if you do everything right.

on another note, my friends 350z with 17k miles that he bought new has a constant problem, always uses mobil1 and it eats about 2-3 quarts of oil per oil change, transmission is destroyed, clutch destroyed, and rattles to ****, even his factory tires were replaced under warranty because they were shredding.
but the a/c still works!.....

Haven't had any problems with mine, as long as it's maintained well, there is no reason that it won't last 200k,
Mines a daily driver, and I wouldn't have anything else, 300+ hp 19 mpg city, 31 highway, can't beat that.
Maybe I've been lucky, but the best most reliable cars I've had have been F bodys, anything else has been a royal POS after 2 years, (Ford Escort trans fixed/replaced 3x, traded for an S10 Blazer, trans replaced 1x, electrical gremlins such as lights going out, engine dying, gages going haywire, traded for 02 T/A, no problems )

You are doing way better than I am. I average 12.47 mpg city. I do have a very heavy foot though.

Got 110k on mine. Only thing i've done to it is put a Thermostat in it. It stuck closed one day. Had to put new bearings in the rear end though. But that was my fault. If you get a M6 just go ahead and get ready to have the rearend worked on. It also has had a new altenator put on. But hey any GM car once you get 75k on it you might as well plan on that.

You shouldn't have any issues as long as you find a good one. They are excellent highway cars.

I have abused my car for 92,000 miles and there is NO driveability issues. The only problems that I came across are the infamous window motor, headlight motor, and a tranny mount went bad. Its the only car I have so I drive it a lot. It even does good in the snow.

I love this car.
