Default trans noise

So I have had this car since Monday and I haven't owned one in four years so I am trying to remember as much as I can. It is a M6 with a pro 5.0 shifter. I know the shifter makes noise but this sounds like it is coming from the clutch area. The car has 20,300 miles on it. When I am getting going if I let the clutch out fast I get a rattling noise. It does NOT exist when excellerating. Now if I am crusing and I am in a gear that is one lower than I should be and I pump the clutch, everytime the clutch engages the rattling sound occurs. The clutch does not slip at all and grabs hard but it just doesn't sound right. Could the shifter have a part in this? Thanks!
