Default 98z m6 wont spin tires?

one again another issue with my friends camaro, 98 z28 only 74k miles 6 speed. He had taken it out the other day, hes not that expierienced driver when it comes to horsing around, he attepted to do donuts and failed, he came to me and asked how to do them, so he told me to take the car out and see if i could do them. SO we get to the parking lot, swap drivers and i hop in the car. at first i just barely rev it up to like 3k and then hammer down on the gas and it just grabs and launches straight, i was like hmm...so i attempt again and this time i drop it at 4500. and it barely spins the and hooks again, i was like waht the hell, so i looked and sure enough he has no tcs so at this point im puzzled..so i try once more and this time i drop it at 5500 still nothing, it just wont spin the tires for the life of it, can anyone please tell me what can cause this? that would be great..

check the tire pressure. Sure he is not running drag radials? I can get my car to spin from a 2k launch. Also, are you sure the clutch is fully engaged/good? When my car is cold(winter time cold), the clutch slips because the fluid does not flow through the restrictor as well. I have to baby it until everything heats up.

You could also try fanning the clutch a little to keep the revs up.

completely stock, has some crappy tires on it, its like 80 degrees outside, and yes the clutch is fully engages, the slave cylinder was just replaced like 4 days ago but im sure thats not it, it has 35 psi in some regular radial tires

are you sure it doesnt have the ASR button by the fog light switch? thats the traction control switch. it should light up the tires at like 2500rpm if you dump it there.

If there is nothing else obvious, I would start with the clutch and hydraulics. Seeing as that it was touched recently there is at least the chance that something is different. Was all the fluid replaced during the slave install? If so, the viscosity would be higher than the old fluid. Was the drill mod done on the clutch line? You might be running into the same problem that I have when the temps are low just because the fluid is new. Instead of dumping the clutch try modulating it to get the wheels to spin.

It MUST have traction control in it ? Any LS1/LT1 with has more than enough power to smoke street tires, especially on a 5500 rpm drop.

Would getting it dynoed and see if maybe there is something wrong internally where it may only be pushing 240ish to the wheels. Not sure but for all the experts maybe that would help. I don't know just a thought.

Then yeah If somethings wrong sell it to a stang driver

Traction control or the clutch is messed up in some way.

A 305 tbi 5 speed car can smoke the tires with a good clutch dump.

Hell....just about any car with a manual transmission and no traction control can smoke the tires with a clutch dump.....or at least spin them better than what you are saying.

Something is definately wrong. I dont care if he only puts down 200 to the wheels....that is enough to spin them good.

It has to be traction control.

5500 rpm clutch drop?

You could spin the tires with 100hp doing that.

well we figured out the problem, the car does have ars on it but the switch was taken out of the console, but when we went to the dealership they told us that they removed it so that the test drivers couldnt go out there and beat the **** out of the car, they fished it out of the console and re-installed it, moments later we couldnt keep the thing going straight! and being the noob that i am i was looking for the tcs switch by the cigarette lighter like on a t/a oh well at least i learned something new today

Damn didn't you feel the gas pedal kick back? Right then you would have been able to tell that the car has tcs/asr.

I would have told them to **** off and demanded they put it back in for free... then told them to **** off again as i bured two trails of melted rubber out their parking lot. That caused you a **** load of problems.
