Budget torque converter for SBC cruiser
Have a '75 Caprice convertible that has an OK
TH350 and the engine is out for work. Want to
put a better than stock converter in it. The old
motor was a smogger but is going back in with
a mild Crane cam and LT1 (the original LT1, not
LT-1) heads. Anyway I would like to get a cheap
converter that will give it a little idle room for the
cam but not hurt it on the highway. Thinking
about B&M "Traveler" series but can find no specs
on STR. This is a 4500-pound love barge and a strip
converter is not what I need, just a little snap in
its step but still cruising cool unlocked (because
there ain't no lock). Any converters y'all have had
some good luck with?

I have had good luck with the B&M Torkmaster line, they wont handle a whole lot of power, but you don't have a crazy motor either. They have a 2200ish stall version for under a hundred bucks! Doesn't slip that bad when cruising either, my biggest suggestion for what you are doing is find the largest trans cooler you can and install it. A trans in a car that heavy is gonna get pretty hot, match that with even slightly more stall and you can fry it fairly quick. Just my .02, Uber

i had the BandM torquemaster in the car for a few weeks and didnt like it but i also have a cam that has some duration so i need to step up to the holeshot 3000 stall. the torkmaster is a good vert for a mild combo in my opinion
