Default Firebird Clear License Plate Cover - Smoked version?

Our Firebird license plate cover mold was transferred to a new shop and they are about to produce a new batch of clear covers. This shop also gave us a quote on a smoked version of the cover. We have to do at least 60 though before they will buy the plastic. So I'm hoping to get an idea on the level of interest. Customers have expressed interest in a smoked version before so we thought we would check with the new shop. The clear ones will still be under $50.00 and the smoked ones will be about $10 more. Depending on the numbers we may be able to lower the prices across the board. Here is a link for those of you not familiar with these:

Would love some feedback.

Thanks,
Deanne

I haven't seen a sample yet and would want to see one before we ordered any. It would certainly make it harder to see the plate if it was on the car. So these are not guaranteed ticket-free and may not be legal in your area (same FYI for the clear ones). The laws vary quite a bit on this issue in states requiring a plate. Many customers have used the clear ones successfully while still displaying the plate and have had no problems. We sell them mostly for show and lighted bird designs and if you can get away with it over your plate it sure makes the car look better.

I'll check back with the shop and see if they can give me an idea of how dark it is and ask them for a sample.

i had the clear one untill i broke it one year when i went for inspection and have been waiting for the new ones to be made. Is it possiable to get that cover without the bird logo. Only reason i ask that is that its harder to read the plate with it there and more noticable to the police man that there is a front cover... I like the cover cause it somewhat smooths out the front end and you dont have a flat square infront of the car...

We can't get the parts produced without the bird formed in it because that is the way the mold was made. We debated having a plain one and it seemed the bird was a big selling point even though it does make the plate a little harder to see. Too bad the molds are so expensive or we could make a bunch of different versions. At quick glance on the road at least the police see you have a plate on the car and that is usually enough to keep them from turning around for you. We'll have the new batch of clear ones in about 3 weeks according to the shop.

I would like to see one without the bird painted factory colors for those of us who don't need a front plate and hate the bird.
