Converter won't stay locked up on interstate!
I have a Midwest 3200-3400 stall converter 2.5 STR, and 3.73's. On my way to Houston this morning , with the cruise control set on 75, I could feel the converter unlock, then lock back up again a couple of miles later. Afew miles down the road, and it would do it again. It would do this at different speeds also. I pulled over at a gas station and double checked the fluid; it was fine. It did this the whole way from Lafayette. Does anyone know WTF is up with this thing? How long will it last; any way to tell? It probably has about 20-25K on it. (I kind of want it to go, so I would have an excuse to do an M6 swap; just not right now. Not enough $$$ saved for that yet.)

This is most likely engine misfires and the PCM
commanding converter to unlock. I'd start with
checking for loose / damaged plug wires (as this
is the only thing that's done it to me). If you can
scan for current misfires and history that would
narrow it right down; if not, just feel 'er up.

The PCM isn't throwing any codes, so I am assuming there aren't any misfires. And no, it was never tuned after the converter; I never had any problems with it throwing codes from the converter. I'll check the plug wires, but I haven't messed with anything, so I don't see how anything would get loose.

Ok, I checked the driver side plugs; they're ok. I couldn't get to the passenger ones. I'll have to check from underneath. I drove it today, and it would unlock every 9-15 miles. The wierd thing is that when it would unlock, it would stay unlocked for exactly 1.5 miles before it locked up again. That was at 70mph.
99SSLS1 - what's up with the brake pedal switch? How could that cause it to unlock? I don't think it normally unlocks when I hit the brakes; only if I go below about 35mph or if I give it some decent throttle.

Other than hopefully taking care of this problem, will it do anything else? I pretty much adjusted my shift points where I want them with my POS Hypertech Programmer.
