Forced Induction - GWP 422 Shipped / Slow Steps

Ok... GWP shipped my motor and since I am not so financially affluent, I'm gonna take this in stages. (It arrives Wednesday... I'm almost done prepping my motor for the swap.)
I was running VERY rich with my current setup and will start out using the 42# injectors and bump my pulley down from the 3.20" back to the 4.10" pulley.
That should accomplish a few things for me...
1. Kenny and Jason get the motor to me earlier, even though I hadn't finished paying for things like low-impedance 83# injectors and injector drivers, a different style fuel regulation for the aux pump, 8-rib or cog, etc... in other words, I get up and running with big-cube, low boost motor and break that in (it still should exceed my current baby by around 100 RWHP, yet be more reliable because it is so much more stout.)
2. I can skip the 50# injector setup by waiting and going straight to the 83's as I get more money in.
3. I can afford to have my SY3500 upgraded to the PY3400 now.
4. The larger 4.10" pulley will have more contact area, hopefully avoiding excess slippage with the torque this motor makes.
4. I can make sure my new baby is broken in carefully, slowly. And see what a couple different setups can do for other guys.
I won't be upset that I am not maxed out in the fuel compensation to get max performance from the motor, yet... I will STILL be better than I was, more reliably.
But, I can know that for more manageable sums of money, I have tremendous potential to get faster and faster.
Besides, for now, I still have that stock transmission...

With the numbers you got out of your stock engine i'd hate to see what you get with this one. I also am having a 422 built. Yours is cast iron correct? I am staying aluminum. The Lingenfelter 427 is aluminum, so i'm hoping that if theirs holds up than mine will. I haven't done much research about those bigger injectors but I guess i'll have to. At first I will stay with the 38# that came with the Vortech kit. Who has the best price on the PY3400 because thats what I want too?

In PY 3400, I'm thinking pro yank extreme? If so you will love it, I have the 3600 in mine and it makes monster tirque on a stock engine with a procharger. It made 496 RWTQ, which I thought it was very good.
Good luck on your engines, my little 382 stroker will be going in, in November. It made, I believe, 455 RWHP. That was without a blower and I will be getting some MMS heads & a cam, to help wake the procharger up a little.
Let us know how those two engines turn out.

A "little" 382 stroker... yeah, right!
Remember, I was going with a 383 stroker and would have been up by now. But, back in Feb/March I decided to go with GWP's 422. But, I could not afford the extra cost right away, which coincided with GWP's R&D anyway. Their R&D on the acutal motor is complete and fine-tuned. Without the fueling they would like to end with, Clay's motor is turning out 693 RWHP / 611 RWTQ!
I won't start that high (I think Clay has 50# injectors right now, and F series blower and 8-rib belt), but I fully expect to get there as I am able to contribute more funds to the "Black Gal".

I will have Mike Senia convert my existing SY3500 to a PY3400. It won't be the Extreme version with positive lock-up capability; I'd have to spend nearly another grand in a new unit. Ouch!
As it is, it will cost me $300.00 to beef up and replace the guts of my SY3500's interior. I can swing that right now (at least my credit card can ).

You may be right... it should handle business.
But, GWP has been fun to work with for me, and I have high confidence, not only in the product they built for me, but that they will take me thru any snags I encounter in my buildup.
They stayed with me until my stock internals 346 netted me a 10.98 ET, and I feel they won't let me down with my crrent path toward the nines. (Am I being too enthusiastic here?)
Good luck on your 427.

I cant wait to see the numbers the new engine will puit down. That thing sounds like a real beast!!!!!!!!!! I think you are on the right track by starting slow and building up on the power. That way you have a chance to get used to all the extra torque and the engine has some time to breakin B4 you start pushing her to the extreme.
Iam thinking of getting a 422 also but Iam going to do thing one at a time.

I was #2 on the waiting list from GWP's R&D'ing of their 422's and this has been in the works since Feb/Mar. The various combinations Kenny has tested since this project began would probably fill a 10-page document. Whoever is doing yours probably wants to get it right the first time, too. I know Kenny did much folow testing of the heads until he got just the right performance from them, took the motor down and built it back up multiple times, all the while installing, removing and re-installing Clay's motor again and again... trying different cam grinds, different degrees of timing to maximize torque and RWHP.
I still would not have mine (on me) if I waited to get the pieces that would bring it to it's full potential. I will have to sacrifice immediate satisfaction of it's full capabilities until I get them to order the additional fueling it needs and a means to put the full boost to it.
If you are like me, you will be happy they took the time to do like Hallmark... caring enough to send you the VERY best.

Hee hee!
According to tracking, it's around Nashville right now... so I may see it tomorrow or Friday.
I have to gig in Ft Lauderdale, Cocoa Beach and Miami this weekend, so I will have to finish pulling my motor next week.
I want to try getting my SY3500 out and shipped Friday... we'll see.

Well, the motor is in Charlotte, NC. It'll load up there tonight, and should arrive in Raleigh tomorrow.

I'm still using the ATI supplied Purge Valve.
So far, I have not detected a problem using it.

I just called the trucking company. The motor is here in Raleigh. But, they had already sent out the trucks with the lift gates. So... I won't see my baby until Monday.
But, the GOOD news is... it's here!
