lol no surprise... so what's this I hear about them being only backwards compatible for a few titles and only on the upgraded model? Sounds like their shooting themselves in the foot if that's true. As the PS3 I believe will be fully backwards compatible to PS1.

The backwards compatability issue is from failed negotiations between Microsoft, Nvidia and ATI. The drivers are only going to be made available for the biggest selling original xbox games, not all of them.
As far as driving up demand, they really are not trying to artificially inflate any prices according to the man in charge of the 360 development program.
That being so stated, back to the original question: What is one worth to you? I know a few people ...

I'll most likely wait until after the holidays to get one... I'm not in such a rush to buy it that I'll pay more than its retail price from scalpers. I'm sorry, but the people that do that just so they don't disappoint their spoiled little brat on Christmas make me sick. I hope that there's some CD driver problem that makes the first batch junk, so I can laugh at the people who end up paying $1000 or more on eBay for something that retails for $400.
Then when I pay retail or maybe a little less at Wal-Mart in the late winter and early spring, I can laugh at them again.
Besides, I'd rather buy a nitrous kit than a 360.
