Cool Lets see those Vette Doctors numbers

Hi Everyone,

I just purchased a 2003 Z06 (black/black) and am simply amazed with the performance ability of the car.

But I'd like to ad a tad bit more horsepower. My goal is 440+rwhp/400+rwtq. Right now I've narrowed my choice to TTP, Cartek and Vette Doctors. After extensive searches I've found a lot of info on the head and cam package results from Cartek and TTP but I haven't found that much informatoin on Vette Doctors h/c packages.

So everyone who has had a h/c package by Vette Doctors please chime in with the package you went with and the numbers (hp/tq) your car laid down.

Hope to hear from you guys! Thanks!

Raul

My H/C pkg is not from the Vette Drs, but they DID install it & TUNED IT!
None better..
AFR 205 heads
AFR 224/228 cam
usual bolt ons with LS6 intake & stock TB
426 RWHP/ 407TQ

I highly recommend using Carmen & Dennis...
I am from Phila PA, and they even UPDATED me w/ pics & VIDEOS of how things were going! I can't say enough good thigs about them!

They even delivered it & met me halfway at the track (E-town) to save me a flat bed bill!

Hi Yo-EL

Thanks for replying! That's a really stout combination that you have there, more so considering that your cam is realtively mild

What made you decide to go with the all AFR package and have Vette Drs. specifically tune it instead of say Rapid Motorsports, TTP, Cartek who are nearer to you.

It seems your experience with vette drs. kicked ***! did it take a long time for them to put it together wiht th etune?

thanks!

Hi emador,

thanks for replying. i recently learned of ECS and spoke to a Don Benson from the Z06 vette forum who put down some pretty good numbers from ECS as well (470rwhp from a h/c package).

What where your numbers? What made you choose ECS? How would you rate their service?

From what i understand, Chris and Doug are a top notch bunch!
thanks!

We hold the 346ci heads/cam record at 505rwhp/436rwtq through a 9", 35 spline axles, 4.10 gears, spool.

We have numerous packages in the 470+ range. Give us a call 973-365-2270 or stop by and chat!

Another vote here for ECS. They did the AFR 205’s and 224/228 cam for me about a year ago.

With LS6 intake, cats, and 4.10 gears it put down 444rwhp and 412rwtq.

The car has run flawlessly since the day I picked it up. Zero issues with the tune or with workmanship.

Their customer service is second to none. They are a great bunch of guys.

Just be careful; it would be very easy to leave the shop with 700rwhp instead of the 440rwhp you originally intended on.

my vote is for TTP, my bro got their equilizer cam for his SS and put down 423rwhp/380rwtq. Also, my friend got their equializer cam only package from them for his 04 vette and he was DEtuned to 420rwhp/390rwtq (bolt on borla/TPIS headers and vararam). Plus the guys there are nice and i thought it was great service

My friend also looked into going to the vette dr's but they were so snobby and inconsiderate with him on the phone he crossed them off his list immediately

another one of my friends got cartek's heads/cam stage 2x package and he put out 450rwhp but broke his timing chain so many times he had to sell his car
just sharing my experiences good luck!

Hi Matt, thanks for the details. I've seen other threads on your work and its impressive. my main goal is to maximize the hp/tq area under the curve and maintain awesome driveability. Do your 470 rwhp packages loose average torque when compared to the stock ls6 engine? also, i will maintain cats on the car.

I will call you tomorrow if you are opened on saturday to discuss possibilities.

thanks.

Hi Mcgorman,

THanks for replying to my post! Those are awesome numbers with a cam of that size. Who makes the cam? How's the driveability? Did you loose any torque in the low end when compared to stock?

How long did they keep your car for? Just curious. Haha, i hear about leaving with a bunch more power. But i've tatooed it into my brain that all i'm getting is a h/c and all the extras required. no stroker and no f/i...that's the mantra i repeat!!!

Hi 01bird58: thanks for replying. I'm really surprised at the vette doc response. from everybody i have spoken too and read up on, they were considered really top notch.

Those are crazy numbers from just a cam (equalizer). But how is the driveability in the low end? does it pull as much, less or more then the stock cam? my main concern is that i don't want an off/on switch of a n/a motor.

thanks for filling me in!

The Guys at the Vette Doctors are great guys with some of the best work I have seen. They stand behind their work 1000%. The reason they may be "snobby" or a little impatient is because they are extremely busy and have tons of work to do. Put it this way. I was undercharged by someone there because of a little misunderstanding that was my fault. And even though the communication error was my fault, they stuck by the original price they gave me which was about 150 less. They are a great bunch and i would do business again with them any day.
