Default Roll Bar

Well, the bar is tacked in. We still have to do the cross bar for ORR specs, but it looks pretty cool. AND VERY STRONG! I think you f-body guys will like this custom design Don (& I) came up with. If you don't weld the back bar in, I think the back seat will be completely accessible. And if you do, like I am, ....well just wait for the pictures. I will try tp post some pics from Don's today....just got up.....need to shower & get back over there.

Oh, and no fires to report either....FIRE BAD!!!

PS Hey Ryan, when we were heating up the door bar to make the bend, Don said we should call you to come tell us if it was hot.

I am uploading pics to my website (link below) as I type. Go there & select the Roll Bar album (sneaky name huh?). Don does VERY nice work! It is coming along quite nicely. Maybe tomorrow it will be welded & painted. I was hoping to get there today, but Don had plans for tonight & we spent a LONG time getting the drivers side door bar correct. Certainly is worth what he's charging!!! (same price as the WolfeRaceCraft bolt in kit)

20 pics ready to view....

I have to say the roll bar looks awsome!!! Don and Mark are doing some damn fine work. The WS6 is really turning into a real race car. I really need to find the money to have Don put one in my car. You can not beat the deal that Don has put together. And quality work at that. Good job guys.

Ha ha, very funny Douglas. Actually, with my back, that is why Don made the door bars so they fold down next to the seat when you pull the pin. Tho to make the dr side fit perfectly, some of that function has been lost. But I decided not rubbing on the seat AND door was more important. These damn TA seats are nice, but the dr seat is FAT!

Another detail.....as I understand it, this kit is based off of Ellis's roll bar. There are some deviations obviously, like where we attached the rear braces, but it is a nice fitting bar. Don does some very good work & is a hell of a welder! It is sitting in my garage now getting painted. I will post more pics when it's done.....

You guys are doing some nice work. I also want a removable/foldout side bar, to make it easier (aging quickly). I may just get a weld together bar kit from Wolfe and have Don do it up for me. Nice pics in your web, Mark. Can we get away with just through bolting vette bars, as they have a kit for that, and one that has plates welded to frame? I think it says both are NHRA legal? Anyone know this for sure?

That looks GREAT Mark. I can't wait to see it in person, maybe Don would be willing to make a few small modifications to my bar

Not sure about Vettes Robert, but an f-body bar can be bolted in. I think it calls for plates above & below. The only stipulation is the rear cross bar has to be welded, not bolted.

And thanks Bill. I think you will be impressed when you see it. About all I need now is to find some plastic trim pieces in the right color to put around the holes in the panels for the rear support bars.

I sprayed etching primer on last night (after cleaning it), I'll hit it with sandable primer tonight, then I'll add a couple of coats of black enamel, followed by some clear coat (at least on the door bars).
