Default Added cam and lost peak torque?

Yea i gained 43rwhp but lost 19rwtq after my cam install. First graph is at RPMotorsports with SLP lid, 3400 converter, with cutout uncapped. The second graph is my dyno from RPMotorsports with SLP lid, 3400 converter, qtp long tubes, magnaflow c/b. Long tubes 20rwhp and 27rwtq. Third graph has my baseline before the cam install and numbers after the install. The install, tuning and dyno numbers were done at Fastech.

I'll probably get it dyno'd at RPM again to see what it make again. Really i just don't see me putting anymore money into this car. Car runs good and the gain feels good at the butt-o-meter. I'll make some runs at the track. Last run before my cam install was an 8.36 at 84mph. That was in 2500+ DA on nitto drag radials.

I'm happy with the hp gain but don't understand why i lost torque. Car has never put out a high hp number.

i would say a slight loss in torque down low is normal.but what strikes me as not normal is your numbers seem pretty low for what you have.are you at some rediculous altitude or something?something is not right if your only getting 350 rwhp with that cam and headers.

Elevation around here is 400ft. What could be wrong for those numbers to be so low? Car has no noticeable problems so i do not understand.

when i see numbers that low the first thing i suggest is to check the tuning.there are many people out there that think they can tune quickly and correctly and miss a lot of things. If you cant find anything in the tune then check for obvious stuff, spark plugs, wires, injectors exhaust or vaccum leaks ect.you will probably get a code if its something real bad.let us know if you find anything and do you know what your AFR was on that dyno run?

I third that, you need to check your tune, those numbers are low.

Went back up there to get the cold starts adjusted some more and asked him about the 324tq reading. Reason why is because of where the readings started or where the car was floored in the RPM range.

Here is the new graph.

Still low numbers but my car started off with low numbers. 290rwhp with lid, 3400 converter, and cutout. 310rwhp with adding qtp long tubes. So the gains are there and very evident, just that the base numbers were lower.

No changes to the timing. I don't know what it's set on.

with a cam you need to give it different timing if you want the torque to be good still...

ive got a feeling that running the car 15:1 has something to do with it. the peak number is right, its even in the right RPM. When you dynoed it, did you run through 2nd gear and then dyno 3rd or did you floor it from 3rd? lastly...why were you spinning the motor to 7500rpm? WOW......thats insane.

Why did the session not even begin until 3500rpms and why the hell did they spin it to 7500rpms?

It's a stalled A4, THEY DON'T MAKE BIG POWER NUMBERS! They also deliver funky RPM readings on dyno's.

How the heck can the torque peak be at that low of an RPM? was his cam installed wrong, maybe advanced or retarded?

If you were closer, or had any intentions of making a slight drive, i'd sure recommend you someone who could tune it real good. The numbers do seem low as everyone else said. I wouldnt of took it past 6500...

Do you guys know about automatics?? Seriously i thought this site was more educated on this.

It's a stalled auto. These runs were done with the converter unlocked and thus you see the torque spike where the converter flashes. There's more detail info to it but that's the basic explanation.

Also the rev limiter is set at 6600 (not exactly sure). The car does not rev pass 6600 and the 7000+ reading is because of the 3400 converter my car has.

My baseline numbers were 307/337 untuned with lid, 3400 converter, magnaflow c/b, and qtp long tubes.

Did you expect the car to gain 60rwhp from an F12? I didn't and was surprised on the 43rwhp gain i got. I was just confused on the 324tq reading which was explained to me today and why i posted the new graph.
