Heads/cam mods and fuel economy.
For anyone who cares, I'll post my results.
This is using about 13.5-13.9 gallons of gas per tank and all in town driving (lots of stop and go). I shift around 3500 normal driving and go WOT a few times per tank.
Basic bolt ons- 210-220 miles per tank.
Headers/tuning- 190-200 miles per tank
Heads/cam- 170-180 miles per tank

I agree. Short shifting really helps fuel economy. My in town rpm rarely exceeds 2000...that is unless I'm testing out my new traction control mods, LOL.

That sounds low, but shifting at 3500, maybe right. Check your fuel filter. I know mine was jacked when I finally got around to switching it out. Cheap thing to try anyway. Takes all of 2 seconds to switch it out.

I finally seemed to have stopped the leaks after my heads/cam swap.
I had a leak right at the block and header from reusing my stock gaskets. Also, each connection over the cats leaked.
I fixed them by wrapping the cats connection with muffler tape, using stainless band clamps, then tightening the heck out of them. Then using "sensor safe" high temp copper RTV all over where the bolts connect on the band clamp ( you could feel the leak there).
In town driving here is all stoplights and stopsigns. Go a mile, stop, go another two, stop.
I'm not too worried about fuel economy, just thought someone else might be.

I just filled up today and on the last tank i got 14.69mpg 75% city. That was with a lot of WOT since the cam just went in. I've been keeping track of it for about 4 months. I'm gonna try to ease up on the throttle this time around and see what i can get out of it.
I was getting 15-16mpg all city with lid, 3400 converter, qtp long tubes and magnaflow c/b. The car was never tuned until the cam was installed.

My city mileage driving kinda like an old lady is right around 20. If I have been getting on it more then it will drop to around 17. On the highway, cruise control at 70mph I have seen a best of 28mpg with the ac on. I am hoping with an underdrive pulley and Fast 90 I can hit 30 mpg!

Just for comparison sake.
In town, same city driving in a 98 Grand Prix GT, I got 16mpg. When I drove as slow as possible around town, barely accelerating, cruising to a stop, the best I could. I only got 17mpg in the Grand Prix.
I don't know what your "city" driving is like, but in my town, 20mpg wouldn't be possible unless you're in a civic.

you guys must be calling your suburbs, cities! because i drive pure city, and im talking like a stoplight ever 100ft or so stop and go driving, tons of traffic, if you ever been to montreal, you know the traffic is the worse and the roads are ****. I get about 14mpg on a lid/cutout car, im scared to think what i would get with more mods! i dont get how you guys with big mods get great gas mileage compared to my stockish ls1. Obviously i dont drive hard, since there is a light ever 100 ft, so im not hard on the gas.

I guess what I consider city is speeds below 50 mph, traffic lights and that kind of crap. It isnt really "city" like downtown, stoplight every block so I guess my city would be more of suburb... Good point 92SilverSHO
