Default Disappointed with German Castrol (gold)

Well, I decided to hop on the bandwagon and try some GC, the newer formula. Switched from M1 10W30 to the GC 0W30. Admittedly the car was a little quieter, but I seem to be burning more oil. With the M1, I burned maybe 1/2 a quart in 7000 miles . With GC, I seem to go through the same amount in 2000 miles. No mods or changes in driving habits.... What's up? Maybe the new formula is not as good as the "green stuff"?

Do any of you have the same problem? I just put in some M1 back in to bring my oil level up, but I may just switch back totally next oil change.

TIA!

I had a similar problem which I posted a while back-catch can would fill up real quick. I have since switched to Castrol 5W40.

haha! I know! However, I did give it a fair shot. Admittedly I haven't done an oil analysis to compare wear results, but I can see what the level on my dipstick is fairly accurately! I'll keep a very close eye on the level for the next couple of weeks.

Who knows, my experience has been the opposite. German Castrol has helped with oil control in several of my cars.

In my experience I have has much less oil consumption and oil in the intake since switching to GC. However this is at the price of additional piston slap in my case. Every engine is a little different, not to mention different climates and driving conditions and driving styles. Everybody has a different reaction to GC. What might be perfect for some may not be perfect for all.

... But Mr. Incredible is right. Where's my lighter?!?

lol

well I guess you're right, every engine and driving style is different. I can't get to bob is the oil guy from work. Has there been a lot of input on the new gold GC in terms of wear?
