Default cam choice

I have an 02 WS6 M6 I am looking to cam in the next month or two. I have been looking at the thunder racing 224/224 but am undecided if this is the right one for me. I want a nice lope but still need a daily drivable car until I buy me another beater. I am planning on running stock heads for a while and upgrade to hardened pushrods and springs. I would like to produce around 420-440 rwhp is this the way to go or should I run something else.....I now have 350 rwhp on bolt-ons so I need something with a 75-85 hp increase .....any thoughts or ideas?????thanks ahead

I don't think a 224 will give you those kind of numbers, especially on stock heads. It will give you a nice driving car though, just not those gains that I think your after.

Ever think about a 100 shot of nitrous?

That cam, maybe give 30-40 HP depending on other mods (headers, etc.) on the stock heads. You're gonna need heads AND a bigger cam to reach those numbers. and a good tune.
Nitrous, like IDZINE stated, is an option that might get you there.

No cam that will fit with stock pistons will make 75-85rwhp more than your bolt-on car already has. That would put you at 425-435rwhp cam only. You DEFINATLY don't see that everyday. You will be in the average if you get 380-400rwhp from a cam only set up.

That's on the high-average side.

yeah, youre right. I just figured he doesnt list a ported tb or ud pulley, so thats about 10rwhp, so I figure if he adds those, then he'd have 360, and that cam is worth 30rwhp, so 390 sounds about right.

I just installed that cam. Pretty tame. sounds almost stock. Nice kick in the pants though. You can defenitly feel the difference.

a 224 cam is nice but i would say for a m6 go with a 228 cam and it will be tame but give you better numbers than a 224 cam would. there is no way you would get over 400 with a good daily drive cam, they just are not big enough.

umm an f-13 will net you over 400rwhp and it's one of the tamest cams out there that make decent power.
