HP Tuners F-body vs Y-body
I just ordered HP tuners yesterday. I ordered 2001 and 2004 Corvette cables.
Both of my friends have Mazda RX7's with LS1 engines from F-bodies. One if from a 2001 Camaro and the other is from a 2002 Camaro. I would like to tune their cars.
Can their PCM's be reprogrammed at the dealer to be used on corvettes? or are the ECU's completely different?

If the hardware is the exact same, then the PCM can be programmed for whatever you want. Same as programming a 99 vette to a 2001 vette. Basically if the hardware is the same, then there's a chance.
Drive by wire question...since both of these LS1's are in RX7's, and the PCM will still be programmed for a vette, but both cars are running throttle cable, do you think it will work? AFter all the PCM will still be getting a voltage signal from the TPS right?

The calibration files for the engine, transmission, etc ... keep that from happening. Even in similar platform you run into this. You can't just use a 2000 F-body support for a 2003 Y-body, the calibration files will not match what the license is looking, therefore you will not have access to modify the later.

you could add on support for either an 01 or 02 f-body and get the other one converted to the one you purchase by either a dealer or someone else with support for f-bodies

I dont understand what the calibration files are.
one question...is the hardware identical or not? If so, then the dealer can completely reflash the ECU to become whatever you want it to ...this is according to Keith @ hp tuners. If the hardware is the same..and you completely erase all data on it, and reprogram it, then it has become something else right? Or am I missing some key information about how the ECU works?
