Default Rear Seat Delete Project...Done

Well, I've begun the winter mods. I know we may still get some nice weather, but I'm gettin antsy. Anyways, I took out the rear seats and started fabricating a box in their place. I intend to make the top open and close so i can mount a nitrous bottle in it. The nitrous will be the next "project".

Thanks everyone.

The seats can still go back as far as they are capable of. I actually used the mounts the rear seats rested on for the box, so there is just about the same amount of space between the front and rear seats.

Next weekend i will put the matching carpet over the wood pieces. I attached the latest pics.

I like. Where do you plan on getting the carpet from to match the rest of the interior?

I actually found some at Murray's Discount Auto Store. They have rolls in 3' x 6' amounts in quite a few different colors. Pretty cheap too ($12).

I see you are not concerned with the added weight.

Looks like it is still lighter than the factory rear seat. BTW did you fit a no2 bottle in it while you were building it? What size bottle are you going to use?

As far as weight is concerned, it is still lighter than the seats/seatbelts. I used 1/4 inch plywood to help keep the weight down. I don't think it is quite strong enough to support someone sitting on it for any extended amount of time, but I don't want anyone sitting back there anyways.

Regarding the nitrous bottle, I didn't dry fit any specific size so I'm not exactly sure how big (or small) of a bottle i will be able to fit, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

I did keep a template for the pieces I cut out, so maybe I can reproduce them, but I'll wait and see how I feel when I am completely finished.

Default Finally Finished!!

Well, I am finally done....for the most part at least. There are still a couple cosmetic things I want to do to the inside to make it look a little more clean.
