Default Presure Plate torque specs?

A friend of mine just got done isntalling a new clutch into his ls1. He said that he tightened the presure plate to 45ft/lbs. I've always seen 50-54 ft/lbs around here. I am trying to convice him to pull the tranny and re-tighten the presure plate to 52 ft/lbs, but he wants a third opinion.

So is 45 ft/lbs close enough?

If he used loctite, he may get away with it (maybe). If he didn't, I'd pull it apart and retorque them. A failure can be very expensive.
