I found this a couple of years back and recently went looking for it again and had to write popular mechanics to find where they moved it so to spare anyone the trouble and to introduce a really good article(look at the difference in times between WS6 Formula and SS Camaro) here it is.

Took a little while to load up for me...

It also shows the depth of the tradgedy.

The Formula was the best bang for the buck, in addition to looking better, *and* it was faster. (too bad it won't silence all those "same car" people)

But people would rather pay more, for a worse look, with crappier optioning and standard equipment levels, just so they could get a bright chevy badge (exactly like people obsessed with bright shiny objects). The price didn't matter, the performance didn't matter, even the looks and option levels didn't matter, all that mattered was that it was a chevy. Never mind that chevy is *(was) the bottom of the barrel at GM. In that respect, it's almost like ricers, taking cheap cars and trying to make them fast and developing a rivalry with it.

A good advertising campaign could have changed this, but GM management wanted to kill the F-Body, so they did what they could to make it languish (it was selling, and was profitable right to the end, it was a (corporate) political decision and nothing more).

What kills me more though is the real ricers. Spending huge sums of money on stupid cars like civic and such to make something that's STILL slow, when for less money they could have a car that is 10000X better, actually meant to be a sports car, and is beating NSX's and Porsche's. Not bad for a meager $23G.

But what can you expect from morons who go on about how "ancient" and outdated pushrods are, when OHC is actually older, and just a different type of design compromise. (and only an idiot could try to argue with the LS1/6, 2/7)

THis is the only article I have ever found with a Formula WS6 rather than a T/A WS6. I like how it woops the SS and I do like that it's the best bang for the buck.
