Default Going from a 220 to a 224

is it worth it?

i have the tsp 220 cam and i love it. great power, great driveability but you cant really hear this thing at idle. well barely.

when i first bought this cam.. i got it cause we have strict emissions testing.

but what i really want is it to be more lopier at idle. i want my car to sound like i got a cam! you think its worth it going from this cam to a 224 224 114lsa cam?
and i know the 224 is the biggest you can go for emissions.

thanks

You might want to go with the 112 LSA for more Lope.

I don't think you'll notice a big difference from the 220 to 224 maybe a bit but nothing major. Have you thought about a cut-out? I have the 224 and I was wanting to go larger myself but I hate to pay a lot just to only have a cam put in. My car has a little rumble at idle but I want more. You know how that is.

with some tuning, the 112 will pass too. You can always bump the idle to 1000 rpm before the test and that helps.

The cheap and simple solution to get more lope is to drop your idle speed by 50 - 100 rpm.

My cam sounds alot lopier with my cutout open. Do you have a cutout. Before buying a new cam, I'd lower the idle and use a cutout.

You could also do duals. Oh I forgot you want emissions legal. a cut out should work. I used to have corsa and you could hear the cam, but then after duals. It would make the ground shake, I know alot of the guys idle theirs down 8-900 rpm as well to sound looper, all this with a good tune.

I too ran the TR220 on a 112 lsa with my A4..
Definately a great street/hwy cam... put a few miles on it.

I am currently ( as i type) having a Comp 232/236 .595 .601 114 put in. & this will still be my daily driver.. even with the 114 this thing should *thump" through my True duals.

I would change the LSA and go with a more agressive duration. The LSA will mainly effect your idle.

I run a 224/224 581, 114. Great street cam and I passed emissions no problem here in Canada. They are pretty strict, idle and rolling test. Power is not bad either 380 hp & 371 tq running through the stock catted y pipe. I know I am leaving another 20 hp on the table without long tubes and a better ypipe.
