Default Carbon Fiber Prep

All,
Do you prepare CF the same as fiberglass for painting? Assuming sanding, perhaps a skim coat and maybe some light weight filler for low spots?
Thanks

Don't think he was asking about doing overlays. I think we wanted to know how to paint carbon fiber. Yes, it is prepared the same way fiberglass in prepared. Fill in any pinholes or other imperfections. Prime and paint as you would with fiberglass.

Yes, that's true. But, be careful because Bondo will not stick properly to some types of resins. I believe (don't quote me on this) that it will work on a polyester resin, but will not stick all that well on an epoxy resin. I'd have to dig and see if that's the right or if I have that backwards.

I don't think he would want to use Bondo anyhow. Probably too rough. Should probably use a glazing putty that will smooth out easier.
