Default Drill Mod question?

I recently did the drill mod to my new master cylinder using the instructions from Istall university. My question is why does it state only to drill a total distance of 1 inch. I followed the instructions (drilled 1 inch), but when I looked at the steel braided line with a flashlight I observed that the line seems to get thinner the further in I look. Has anyone notice this or does the line only need the 1 inch as stated on Install university. It just seems as if the the whole line is restricted not just one inch of it. Any comments greatly appreciated..

I believe that the forum stated to only drill 1" to ensure that you do not drill into the actual line. Then you can most def. have leakage/ tension problems.

Hypothictly, wouldn't drilling the whole line with a 1/8th drill bit be better?
