Default 241 vs. 243 heads

Stock for stock I know the 243's (LS6) heads are better. What about after they've been ported?
Do the 243's have more meat on them so they can be hogged out more?
Why do the aftermarket porters charge a premium for LS6's over all the other ported heads (5.3, 5.7, 6.0)?

Thanks

From what I have heard a fully ported ls6 (243) casting will always flow better than a fully ported ls1 casting. That is if they are fully ported. But that is just what I have read.

Mine are stock LS6 heads with a Stage 1 CNC. They flow 308@600, and 256@400. That's no hand polishing or finishing. And that's with stock valves. That's how they came in the wrapper from LPE

How big you make a head doesnt tell the whole story. A 243 head flows better because the better shape in the bowl area and the inmproved short turn. With the same amount of port work a 243 head will usually have a 241 head by around 15 cfm up top and alittle less through out the range.
