Smile Readlined!!!!!!!!!

I just recently got ahold of a 1998 SS A4 with 373's and some suspension work done to it. I was always told not to redline it but today i launched from 1st and then i accidentally shifted to Neutral !!!! I saw the needle hit 7k rpm and did the typical overreving sound (i think). I immediately let of the gas and shifted into OD (over drive). Will this have permanent damage on my motor? It seemed to run well afterwards. Fist time i do it and hopefully the last. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Oh yeah, sometimes from 1st gear to 2nd it shifts at 6.5k, normal? Doesn't stall or anything. Thanks.

you could have bent a pushrodm the stock pushrods arnt very strong. let us know if you hear a ticking sound from your engine, if so then you probably bent one. there easy to change but other then that your probably fine.

Don't manually shift. it'll do it for you. Unless the revlimiter settings are all messed up, theres no reason at all a stock auto should rev that high.

Yeah you don't want it to shift that high unless you have the springs that can handle it.
