I'm pretty sure mine is flat. I will run outside after I post this & double check.
Here is mine.

Now that I looked mine is indented or sunk into the plastic & the decal fills in the logo. It's not a logo painted or stickered on a smooth top.

There are plenty of other lids out there that have nothing on them.
I'm going back from memeory, but I think the SLP logo is embossed into the lid.

Yea, it don't matter what lid you get, they all flow the same. They did a test on it in GM hi performance magazine.

The SLP lid with the white lettering is sunken into the lid. That is how my lid is done. You'd have to do bodywork to it to make it smooth.

nah, i read an article and they said SLP and MTI were the best . . . people say a lid is a lid, . but thats not true, . . on a stock z28 with some mods, (forgot what mod) it ran like 320 something, . with the other lids, it jumped to like 328-329, . . but the SLP lid jumped to 330 and 331 . . . the MTI jumped to about 330 but had the best track time, . . . again i don't recall the EXACT numbers thats why its most likely gonna be a SLP lid in my hood

My car gained almost 5hp each of 3 runs back to back without changing anything. A lid is a lid, they are all about the same. The SLP ones only advantage is it's plastic matches the rest of the black plastic in the engine bay. I like my direct flo lids, but I think that company is gone. I would get a Texas Speed if I was looking.

I read an article about that too, the MTIs had the best track times... But I'm not sure you can really attribute that to the lid.... there are too many other variables

I've custom painted a few dozen SLP lids, they are my favorite because they are fairly smooth to begin with. Only way to get that face smooth for a decal is to fill in the "SLP" with some glazing putty and feather it out. Prime and again feather. That may be good enough if you didn't go beyond the edges of the decal, but my suggestion would be to paint the lid in a nice gloss black and clearcoat for a great base for that decal to sit on.

tsp lids are junk..

fitment is like putting a square into a triangle.

I'm very unsatisfied with my lid.

Correct. The place that sold the Direct-Flo lids (LS1 Motorsports and later Quartermile Performance) is no longer in business. I had a Direct-Flo lid. The way it was glued together was poor, and like you mention the textured plastic didn't go well with the rest of the underhood plastic. I've got an SLP lid now, and couldn't be happier.
