Default please help to spec a new cam

Hi! To you cam gurus ,please i need your advice.my present setup is in my sign.I want a biger cam but not to big with better low and mid range. I dont care about peek hp. I dont want to spin it past 6400-6500 Its a dayly driver and i want to have fun on the streets .I do a lot of street driving and spend time sitting in truffic so it must have a good idle, also do a lot of highway.I also will get new heads later. Thanks in advance.

the best cam i have used is a 231/231 581/581 112+2
it is 100% drivable, andmakes great power. esp on the spray!

I went from pretty much the cam you have now (comp cam with 114+4 the only difference) to basically an f13 (with f14 exhaust lobes for nitrous) 114. I absolutely love my new cam. Low end power is changed little if at all and med-top end is just plain nuts. The cam is docile at idle and I would consider it to be every bit as street friendly as the 224 it replaced. With your m6 and 410s, street driving will be awesome. Getting it on a 112 would bring peak power down and make keeping rpms down to the range you are looking for. I HIGHLY recommend the Futral f13 and f14 cams.

Noyzee thanks for reply. I read your posts on the estern board, good stuf. Is your cam comp grind? Xe or xer lobes? How is it idling? I dont mind some lope but not a lot.If i go with a litle biger split on duration and lift how will it efect over all performance? thanks.

It will lope with 7* positive overlap at .050
Easy to tune with XE-R lobes on an equal split.
Good trq output.

In theory yes, but that is a deal that needs to be done live to test it out. The cam profiles might not like that much advance.
A bigger cam will not get more power under the curve, but same cam on a 112+4 would achieve your needs.

Thanks. What would you suggest in the 230ish size with good idle for dd? What split? My main interest is low-mid range.

you could add the vinci/crane 1.8 accelerated lift rockers if you want to boost low/mid range area. only thing is, it will increase your total valve lift to .622/.622. the patriot springs should be able to handle that. but, you will need to check your piston to valve clearance. or you can go with the vinci 055 cam. smaller, but did better than the comp 220/224 cam.

comp 220/224 .581/.581 LSA 115 with 1.7 accelerated lift rockers vs vinci 055 216/224 .551/.551 (1.7) LSA 113 with 1.8 accelerated lift rockers (brings lift to .583/.583). IMO, if you want more low/mid range, it's the way to go.

That is one way to go.

It will be cheaper to swap cams, those Crane adjustable rocker kit is mucho $$.
