What's the best thing to do with the PCV system on a drag car?

I was wondering the same thing. I have a Brand new elec. vacum pump off a new volvo and i was wondering if i could run both valve covers to a Y in to this pump to remove the gases?

Well i was thing putting a Bung on both of my valve covers with hose someing off in to a Y to bring them down to 1 hose then runing it to a elec. vacum pump. I have no idea if it will work but i was hopeing some one would shed some input on it becuse i oculd do it for very cheap.

I've been suggested to put a breather on the filler cap and on the opening of the driver's side valvecover (in the back) and completely get rid of the PCV system. Is that ok? The other suggestion would be to put a vaccum on the system, but I wound't know where to begin or set it up.

no ill effects here..and no oil consumption problems ...at all

Ok I'm confused and unsure on what to do. There's a few people saying that they ditched the system completely and put a breather on both valvecovers, then others say that really doesn't pull the fumes from the crankcase and to use some kind of vacume. Another option was to do a drysump system. Well...for those who don't have big bucks to spend on a drysump system, what would be the next best alternative. I'd like to pick up some power in this area even if its just a few, have good venilation, and get the fumes out. What do you suggest?

Jeramy,
the breathers allow crankcase pressure to vent out of the engine. This results in better ring seal which equals horsepower.
A vacume pump goes one step further. It actually pulls a vacume (Pressure less than 14.7 PSI - AKA: Atmospheric pressure) inside the crankcase. This means even MORE horsepower.
I would recommend going to a motor plate and a vacume pump. Not only will you find some HP with your current combination, it will be worth some significant power once you put a big stroker engine in.

Ben R, thanks bro for the help. Makes more sense now. For now, I'm gonna hold off on the motorplate, but a vacume pump/system I'm really considering.
LOnSLO, wow, thats a nice gain. Where did you get these products? Do they have a kit with everything you need or do you have to piece this together? Was the power you picked up with this modfication only? Thanks.

I found 4 Moroso pumps, one in which is for supercharged/big cube motors on Summit and boy they're expensive. The cheapest one is $360. So that leaves me with 3 to choose from. However, its just the pump, no kits. Where can I find complete kits for our cars?

Vacuum pumps are expensive, yet you won't see much of a gain unless you're using some low tension second and oil rings. I expect to see way more power gain with this next motor due to an extremely light ring package.
