Default rougher idle with tr6

I have tr6's gaped at .39. Is it normal for them to idle rougher than tr55's?

Yeah, it's pretty normal. It shouldn't be so rough that the car wants to die but it should be alittle rougher than the stockers and 55s.

I guess maybe the plugs I replaced them with were a bit tired out and that may explain it, but my idle actually got smoother when I put in the NGK TR6IX iridium plugs I'm using now.

My idle was a little rougher with the TR6 over the stock plugs, but smoothed out with the Iridium plugs...

I went from TR55s to TR6s in my previous cammed car. I never noticed a diff in idle.

Then on my current car I went from the stock plugs to TR6s, idle is as good as before.

FWIW I have them gapped at .038.

It seems like you can run TR6 Iridiums with nitrous, look at xtrooper's sig. Shows he is using nitrous in his car and has TR6 iridiums installed. Not sure if he still runs n20 in the car with the plugs.

maybe we can get a confirmation.

Thanks for the replys. My car runs and drives fine. It seems to idle a little rougher when I sit at a light for a couple seconds then it starts. G

I've been using the plain jane TR6 but I went there from BP7 --- way too chilly --- i'm swapping to TR6IX next week after while doing new heads/cam/n20/etc..they've served me well...I'll let the X factor speak for himself BUT...i think i've heard a little something about a little n20 to go with that occasional chilly Sam Adams!!

Yes, you can absolutely use iridium plugs with nitrous. In fact, both NGK and Denso recommend iridium plugs for spraying.
