Default looking for brackets for sb chevy old style

me and my dad are working on a 383 sb with electric water pump. My dad wants to run power steering on the car. I seen that March pulleys has a setup for a serpentine belt system with electric water pump, but its like 400 bucks. This car is a street/strip car (mainly strip). So we are looking for something simple and cheap and that uses v-belt system (nothing real fancey). The only stuff we will run on the car is a alternator and power steering.
Anyone ran into this or has some ideas please post up.

I have the same thing on my car and have found the way to get the electric water pump brackets for about half the price. You have to get the MID MOUNT alternator kit and the bracket for the type of electric water pump that you are running. The power steering is great. I believe that you need a pump off of a cavaler if I remember right I know one from a 1987 Pontiac Sunbird will work. But you want the power steering brackets for the remote reservoir. Here are the part numbers for everything that you would need. That is if you wanted to go this way. I have found that this way is the cleanest and frees up alot of room. Hope it helps!

http://www.marchperf.com/pg7.html

Part #20124 ULTRA Small Block Alternator Bracket for long water pump Price.....$105.21

Part # 20118 Remote Reservoir style, Fit both short and long water pump Chevy small block.
Price... $105.21

Part##22091 Meziere Alternator Price.....$42.05

That last one is the electric water pump addapter which will make the alternator kit the exact same as you would get if you ordered the electric water pump kit. So basically the kit is 284.15 and you can get the same thing for 147.26!

You can either use your pulleys or get the v-belts or the serpentine pulleys from march as well.

Hope this helps.

power steering is for girls and it robs too much horsepower for what its worth on turns..i say just eliminate it but its up to you, but since its a mainly strip car youll be much happier without it, i have a cast headded big block in my car with no power steering and it turns with no problem at all...just my .02

P/S doesn't rob that much, between the weight and the belt you're looking at .05 et if that. You can do it with the right bracket mix and an electric water pump. FWIW, you'll lose about 30 lbs dropping the power steering system. I use a manual box in my Nova on the street and it works fine.

yeah well guys this was a manuel steering car when I owned it. But I sold the car to my Dad and he wants power steering so thats the deal. When I had the car it had no power brakes, no power steering, and only 1 seat. Now my dad is putting all kinda of weight back in the car, so its not mine car so oh well. The car weighed 3050 with out driver when i owned it. Thats with 8 point roll bar and ladder bars.

Damn, that thing is light for an 80 model F-body!

If you want to try and do it with factory-style brackets, I'll check out a few buddies cars and see what they used...
