Default need opinions on cam...

ok everyone... i just purchased my 408 from HPE, it finally got here on friday and now im looking to buy my heads/cam.

there is a guy local that is selling some patriot stage 3 LS6 heads with additional porting for pretty cheap... BUT he said the cam needs to go with it...

cam specs... 240 246 608 613 on a 110 LSA... is this big enough for my car??? if not ill just buy both and sell his cam... how big should i go on my cam??

I'm sure that cam would work well on your 408, but it's more towards the daily driver end of the specs than the strip warrier end. The 110LSA will make it pretty choppy though. Probably a torque monster.

My bigger concerns would be the heads. The PP heads, if modified, will either be better or worse the stock PP heads. I would see if you can have them independantly flowed before you buy yourself a big pile of aluminum.

they will be flowed.. and the car put down VERY VERY good numbers... the car is my daily driver but im not to worried about drivability because its all in the tune...

how much power will i be losing with this cam if i dont go larger?? is there alot more power to be had??

this cam was in his stock bottom ended LS1.... it was a MONSTER sounding car.. i mean it was really realy lopey and wicked... jsut wondering how my extra cubes would affect it?

i will also be spraying a 200-250 wet shot.. would that cam do well with nitrous??

You are not getting alot of input, because the set-up you are asking about is pretty rare...Not alot of 408 guys out there...

The cam you mention should be plenty big enough to run a 408 sized engine...I think most people get caught up in the "bigger is better" concept...When most of the time just choosing the combination of parts that actually work in conjunction with one another will yield the best all around performance...

Peace...Gman

Sure, it's big enough. I would go a little bigger, but that's just me. You have to make the decision for yourself.
