12 Second Club - 12.38 stock converter, bolt ons, bad 60FT

Hit my new best this weekend, 12.38 at 111 MPH, with my modest mods I was pretty happy with that. BUT I still can't seem to hook that well with my Nitto's, my best 60FT was 1.87, I definitely feel like I should be around 1.8. I think my burnouts are killing me, I'm not doing them long enough....

Any other A4 launch advice? I was only loading up to about 1200 RPMs and spinning :bang:

not sure what advice to give you about the nittos, would look into some M/T radials. But you should definitely be lower with the nittos, i have pulled 1.86's with my street tires, i bet track prep has alot to do with it too. I usually stall it up to 1200 then press it to the floor.

I managed a 1.83 60' with my nittos and I didn't spin. When you do the burnout, make sure the smoke takes up half the car, the tires should be ready by then.

Roarin - yeah I watched the tape my burnouts were totally gay. I really need to count like 10 mississippi's in the box!!!!

how do you like that 3800 as far as daily drivablity?

I love the converter for daily driving. You get used to it after and you'll love it with the nittos that you have already. Should give you an 11.6 from it. Just get the tranny tuned when you get it. Or just go with the SS4000 instead. I had already bought mine and it was sitting when Yank came out with the 4000.

I'm going to give you a warning. Once you get the stall put in, you'll have to learn how to launch the car again. It's not as simple as just stalling it up and then hammering it like you are used to. You will easily blow the tires off if you do this and you will go slower!! When I went to the track on saturday to test the tires finally with the stall, my first run was a 15.4@101 with a 2.2 60'. My friend watching me said that my burnout was too short. So next run up, I put the tires down to 21 psi from 30, did a nice long burnout till the smoke was up to my mirrors and ran my best in my sig. I know that I can get a 1.7 out of it, but it is completely different than before. Hope this helps some. :)

Oh yeah and with that 15.4 run, I had a red LT1 camaro next to me that ran a 14.5. Needless to say I got a pm from him and it's kinda embarrasing. :jest:

I didn't catch your runs - I was too busy trying to coax my dad back into the staging lanes - he was the silver C5 that almost smacked the wall in the a.m.!!!!

Oh shit!!! I was in the staging lanes and I just missed that. My friend told me, Yo Gabe did you see when that silver C5 almost smacked the wall? Yeah the track was very slick which was why I got that 15.4 run. I spun past the 1/8 mile and didn't hook till about a few feet to the traps.

I have a pic that my buddy took just before I started my burnout. I had 4 runs that day. 2 of those were against a black GT. Maybe you saw when I had a problem doing my burnout.
