New C6 Z06 at open track event
Here are some pictures of a friend's new Z06 at an open track event in the Phoenix area yesterday. Those are infact C5 Z06 wheels on the car. He has not been able to find slicks for the bigger wheels yet, so he put his old Z06 wheels on. They fit (barely) with the closest point being at the front calipers, which are only 1/4" away from the wheel. It became evident pretty quickly that the car needs MUCH more tire on the front and especially the rear than the previous Z06 and that the oil coolers and radiator are deficent with even mild track duty. The oil temp regularly ran at around 280-285 degrees with the water temp at 245-250. Also, the factory brake fluid is junk as the car experienced brake fade half-way through its first session. We replaced the brake fluid with some high-quality racing brake fluid and had no further problems the rest of the day. The car is much quicker than the previous car down the straights and seems to have a lot of potential with a good track tune for the suspension dialed in. (NOTE: picture of rear tire and amount of rear fender as a comparison to how big the rear tires are on the new Z06 vs. the previous model. Street tires can be seen in the background.)

Assassin, the brake rotors and calipers all the way around fit the C5 model. Someone has done it on Corvette Forum. The packages are already selling at the dealers too...

Nope, you need to go to 18 inch wheels in the front. Those are 18s you are looking at in the picture. As an update, the owner just ordered a set of racing wheels with a 18x12 front and 18x13 rear. He ordered them so all of the tire fits under the fender.
