Default I saw the sneak preview of "JarHead" tonight

y'all check it out, it's a good movie. It'll have you cracking up a lot, but it has it's serious moments too. I swear if people in the middle east see this movie, they're going to think we're all a bunch of gung ho americans thirsting for iraqi blood. But oh well...I would too if I was out there

I think I'm going to see it. It's been a year since I got back from Iraq, and the previews kinda get my adrenaline pumping again.

There have been lots of books that were exceleent that don't make the translation to the screen at all. So, I'll be anxious to hear how this comes out.

I've got pretty high hopes to see it but Jamie Foxx killed a lot of my hopes big time when he said his little hoorah. No one in the Marine Corps talks like that. Maybe the context it's in explains it, but until then, cheesy. ***** to the author though that chose to do a story on the other side of a Marine's life. Definitely a hard topic to understand and even harder, a story to tell.

i'm kinda confused, but the author of the book "Jarhead" is a Marine, and he did serve in the Gulf war, and the book is about his experience there... and the movie is about the book... hope that clears it up some

Sorry for the confusion but in no way was I trying to say that his story couldn't measure up to what really happens. The only thing I was negatively commenting on was Jamie Foxx's "hoorah" at the end of the credits. No one says hoorah like he does. The only reason I even pointed that out is because I'm a Marine and I know if I were watching that with any Marine buddies then that would have been criticized.

I understand completely w/ the Hoorah comment as my family is full of marines so we always get earfuls of comments from them when movies like jar head come out. How long have you been in service. My cousin is going on year number 4 and he is now a corpral(sp) at age 21 and completed both OSC's, went through sniper school, and the marines pulled him out of going to iraq to send him to the citadel.

I'll try not to give much away, but some of the combat related stuff is pretty close to the real thing. I could think of two incidents that was a bit over the top during combat. Some of the things they do to pass the time in the desert isn't very accurate but that's hollywood for you. They're just trying to make you laugh. I did find the movie to be rather political though. It clearly has a staement it's trying to get across. Lastly, Black Hawk Down is still a way better movie, but I still give this movie 2 thumps up.
