Default need a set of components...

suggestions? anyone familiar with CDT? i've heard good things about them, but havent been able to hear them in person. best speakers i've heard are focals, but no way in hell am i going to pay that much for some speakers
i want to have some speakers that are CLEAR and precise and have good midrange bass, etc. i've got a pretty good sub that give me enough bass, but i hate speakers that dont seem to put any bass out themselves.
TIA

I use Focals myself, but the best bang for the buck is JL's XR series IMO. I used them before I could afford Focals. They scream in the f body.

don't mean to start off on a bad foot here, but if you are considering buying eD, read this first:

There are a lot of haters on caraudio for ED. I have had one of thier 10's in my car for over 4 years now. Never had one problem. I have sitting in my room an ED 9.1 amp, 9.4 amp, Edi6500 comps, and a e12O.44 sub. Total cost $760. The 9.4 and Edi's are new w/3 yr warranty, the 9.1 has a transfered warranty of 2 years, and the sub has one year left, also transfered. All of their products carry a 3 year warranty. If you have a problem with something you can call them and they will help you out. They also don't have an automated answering system, If you call while they are open you WILL speak with a real person. The owner of the company lists his email on their forums. I have emailed him several times and he was more than willing to help answer my questions. In my opinion they produce a very good product for a very very reasonable price. And I believe they have a 30 day money back guarantee for any reason.

look at all the people ben helped in that thread though: not many. he didn't even make one post to offer a solution or try to explain the issue. what's worse is that a former employee and very highly spoken of spl competitor, lloyd lowry, made several posts on known and ignored issues with their product.

having owned a nine.1 and a nine.2 before, those amps got hot way too quickly for my liking and is an issue i've heard other people have as well. obviously that's not the case with every one off the line as you've had success with them, but you know what they say, buyer beware.
