Default Polished billet or black billet?

Once I get some money after paying of sales tax and such, I'm going to be picking up a front grille for my new pewter Z. However, I've come to a dilemma. With my red Z, it was obvious that I was going to get a black billet because I didn't like the way the polished one would look on it.

Now, I have the choice for my pewter one, but either one would look good. My appearance mods for the front of the car will be the Whistler mod on the headlights and diamond clear corners. I'm thinking that I'm going to paint behind the grille black and go with a polished one, but I just can't decide...

Polished:

Or black... :

It depends. If you are going to stick with your clear corners/chrome rims, the polished looks better. That other car has more black accents, such as the dark wheels and stripe, so it would make the black grill look better.

Contrary to what's on mine.. I say black. Black/pewter is awesome and if you already have the black ZR1's on there and you're gonna do the whistler mod... just makes sense. I'd go smoked corners instead of clear though... just a personal preference.

i have the polished grille on my pewter...i put a black powdercoated one on there and i hated it so much i put the polished back on... My color scheme is black and pewter also i just didnt like the way the black looked at all! Mostly because i have polished rims, it made the rims stick out too much with the black grille...now if u have black rims its a different story!

If your gonna keep the black ZR1's on your pewter Z, then I'd get the the black one. If your gonna put chrome rims on, get the polished. That's what I would do.

Thanks for the responses guys.

I really like the black one too, but on my other car and the photoshops I'd done with it, I was getting to the point where I'd have too much black on it. I really love the pewter and don't want to ruin the look of it with too much of another accent. For black on the front of the car, I'm going to have smoked corners (said clear before, but meant smoked), the Whistler on the headlights, and when I can afford it I'd like an SS hood with the black fill-in decal (that goes in front of the scoop like on the 35ths). Plus I'm going to have a gloss black tail panel and my black ZR1s. So I'm going to have quite a few dark accents. I just really think that the polished grille adds a classy look to it and keeps in line with the pewter color.

Once again, thanks for all your opinions guys and girls. Keep them coming. And if you have any other pics of either, throw them up in here!

EDIT: I've got a pic here of Stangkilr's old car, which now belongs to another member (a friend of his). It's pretty much what my car is going to look like, except pewter and without the hockey sticks. I just love the polished grille on the front and how it balances out the lighter/flashier colors with the black:

How would that look?

Yup, after photoshopping around last night a bit, I came back to black.

I used a pic of Stangkilr's car (hope you don't mind man!) and chopped it to how I want mine. Only thing that will be different is the wheels. I made his Z06s black, but you'll have to pretend that they're black ZR1s like mine.

I like polished. I agree you should stick to a "look".

I personally don't like black painted, anodized, of powdercoated stuff. Looks cheap, like Bubba out in the backyard using BBQ paint.
Also, I can't wait for the whole black rim thing to go away. It's a sickness that has taken it's toll on countless ricers, and now f-bodies. The ONLY car I think looks good with black rims are the Blackbirds. Flame on.

To each his own, I personally don't think I would put black wheels on my car, but they can be tastefully done, for example these ZR1's, and some of the TTII's some members have. I agree with what everyone else has been saying too, pick a theme and stick with it. I would go black. Look at some of the different ones and get what you like. It's your car you should like it, who cares about what everyone else says. I also plan on doing a black grille on my red Z with the Whistler Mod. After all I already have the supplies to do it so why not try it I guess, and then in the far future, probably, I will be getting a SS hood and some Z06 or Chrome 10-spoke wheels.
