Default Lowell dragracing accident

it was just on the news. Some 31 y/o pregnant woman was killed when an Acura landed on the roof of her car. Some kids were drag racing and the acura flew over the median.

Unbelievable. This is why we have dragstips. You guys who dragrace on the street, like the turnpike are just insane. My wife and I just had our first baby 10 months ago and I can't even imagine how I would feel right now if she was the one who was killed by some stupid kid racing his car on the street. Oh, she was 8mo pregnant and they couldn't save the baby either.

totally f'd up man. i hate hearing about **** like this. it's unnecessary.

You are 100% correct. That was awful. However, the Lowell Connector has that **** happening every day w/the Import idiots road racing. That is not drag racing. The ******** weave in and out from lane to lane at high speeds, endangering everyone on the road. That is not drag racing. These no-minds w/their dropped-down fart pipe-equipped toilets should be straightened out before they kill more people and further de-grade drag racing, because what they're doing is NOT drag racing. That is just a horribly senseless tragedy. I see the import guys racing in traffic ALL the time and it scares me. Also, this is the kind of behavior that prompts legislation against modifying vehicles.

I agree with what has been said, every time I see something on the news like this I cringe. I saw the news report the other night when this first happened and before anyone said who was involved I looked at my g/f and said "I guarantee it was some ricers" Low and behold, within the next 30 seconds they say that an Acura totalled and that the kid in the Honda was still at large. WTF?!? Not only are the a-holes ruining it for teh rest of us, but 2 innocent lives were taken! This crap annoys the hell out of me!

It was a Mercuy Sable that struck & killed the woman in a Subaru wagon: http://www.lowellsun.com/ci_3182969, http://www.lowellsun.com/front/ci_3186043.

Totally sucks, no matter what kind of car it was. I had some stupid kid in a Cavaler try to race me in traffic on 395 on my way to work yesterday. Heavy traffic, I just ignored him. Looser.

Yep, point being, it's not always the "ricer" cars.

I heard about that too, but I dunno from the full story it doesn't sound like there was any drag racing involved. Some idiot was going 90mph+ and driving recklessly in a SABLE, of all things. I think the media just likes to call any accident nowdays an illeagal drag race.

I live a couple miles from the connector.

It's been recently ground up & re paved.

It's like a runway it's so smooth now.

But it's still kinda "hilly" & going that fast would make it "easy" to put a car airborne.

There were lots of "smaller" accidents before the paving due to the roughness of the road.

It would actually toss your car into another lane, even at the posted speed limit & some cars would still become airborne if they hit the bumps just right.

The car was riced out and it's not just the car but the ricer mentality of the driver. As for my information Fox News may have been incorrect that night when they made the announcement that it was an Acura, but I just checked with my g/f and she verified that it was indeed what they had stated.

Regardless it's a stupid act and an innocent woman and her unborn child paid the price because some kid thought that racing on the highway would be fun.

thats so sick. that kid should never be allowed on the streets again, that it. Imagine how that poor family has to suffer, over something so pointless.

what I don't understand is, what were they even racing at 4:55 pm? imagine how many people were driving on a friday. no concern for others, what ********

I drag race on the stret time to time. But only if I know there is no chance that anyone could walk accross the street or even a car for that matter jump in front of me. It would be a dead intersextion and a long strip in front of me. Never in a densely populated area.

And I also agree that the ******* weave in and out in their little imports that is why people crash with that. They weave 3-4 lanes at a time thinking it looks cool and they are "fast"

Don't hear about an american car having anything of that nature happen.

there was a trans am and i *think* a mustang got into a racing accident on 114 in peabody a few years back. there was a girl in the back seat of the trans am that got launched through the t-tops and hit the traffic light above the intersection.
