Default 2 Step users/potential users - Need input...

As many of you know, i had/have stopped making my 2 step at this time.

Partly due to recent time availability on my part, some due to reaching the point of the next large investment in the basic raw materials to make the units.

Anyway, i've reached the point where a retooling to add/change features is the most opportune.

I've already got a working prototype on the "shop car" that features a second lower RPM used while on the foot brake to bump into the beams while flat footing the throttle. Done specifically for larger turbo/t-brake setups needing the advantage when racing heads up. It's got some quirks at the moment, but works well.

I have configurable activation levels for both inputs on my list already.

But for those using them, or would like to, what would you like to see different? What would you add?

Thanks for the input...

RPM de-activation lock. So the footbrake does not re-activate the two step when your stopping on top end until you get below set rpm.

To move the 2-step to the inside of the car, for those last minute changes in track conditions.

Is there any possible way to incorporate some sort of adjustable timing feature?

Its good to see you'll be making them again, its an awesome product!

Either that or make the activation RPM adjustable from the drivers compartment.

what about a 2nd high side to use as a rev limiter instead of the OEM fuel cutoff (not a fan of fuel cutoffs)

that way you can tune the OEM limiter to 8K and use the 2step limiter for the "true" rev limit

I just installed mine today...finally found one. Great product! The only thing I would change is make it easier to adjust the RPM. I am considering making a hole in the cover directly over the RPM adjusters, and using a grommet to keep it plugged until I need to change the RPM.

tat, have you contacted me about it before now? How do you have the 2 inputs hooked up, and what's the RPM set at? Take it to a PM to keep this thread on topic.

As for the others..

Kurt, way ahead of you

Brian, with the 2 setting you could do just that. It's a hardcoded lower limit right now, since I've only got one set of dials at the moment.

As for moving it inside, that's a function of wire lenght. It's already got 4 feet of wiring harness, you could make that go into the car now.

Making the adjustments easier to get at, and keeping the box semi-water tight is a trade off. i could see making the dials extend above the cover. Or possibly making the accessable vis plugs. But all that compromises sealing.

As for timing adjustments, there's not enough smarts in it to have the computer horsepower to make that happen.

There are plans to make the harness a seperate piece that plugs in, making the box sealing more robust. And making it a cleaner package overall.

Harlan I like your original idea i THINK. How would you go from prestage to stage flat footed and get to the higher 2step limit? I think you are trying to help in an area that I would like. I prestage...hit 2step activation....ease off brakes enuff to get car to stage but not enuff to deactivate 2 step and then flatfoot it once staged. Sounds like your idea will let me flatfoot it at say 1500 rpms in prestage and then somehow go to the upper 2 stage limit once staged. Please explain the process..sounds awesome as i'd have more time to build more boost

Harlan. I like the idea of a 2-stage, 2-step. I have had your original for 3-4 years. Love it. On a my old 6-speed it was a must. Now with the TH-400, it make the nitrous launch much easier. The 2-stage will work with my future set-up

Harlan, I have yet to hook my original one up from your last batch...kind of keeping it new a collector item, but there are several ppl here on this wittle bitty island that would love it if you made them again. Any improvement over the original would be welcome. I personally only need it for working with a Trans Braked Rossler TH350 and Multi stage N2O off the line...nothing much

i'm confused on how this would work....basically on the first stage at the lights when you hit the transbrake it goes to the first step for a launch rpm, then off the brake it goes to whatever the rev limiter it?

On a transbrake/turbo car. You activate the first stage on the footbrake at say 3500rpm with a 6000 stall. Riding the brake you go full throttle before you are in both beams and the engine builds a slight amount of boost as it touches the limiters first stage. Then you drag the car into the second beam with footbrake, when the transbrake is activated the second rev limit is on/first overides, second is somewhere around 5-5500 rpm depending on launch boost wanted. Then when you go off transbrake the high limit for safety comes on, somewhere above max rpm during run.
