which FI motor is for me? help me decide!
ok, i'm looking for a replacement for my bone stock 6.0L that I can strap my whipple to. This is on the big *** truck in my sig. My daily driver. I'm hoping to make 550-600rwhp when it's all said and done. I'm hoping for 11's in the 1/4mile. That being said, I want to spend as little as possible of course. I'm looking at 2 motors. 1) 402 short block from scoggin dickey, then add heads, cam, etc. 2) 408 from ffhp with ETperformance heads.
I plan to run the whipple on either motor with about 10-15lbs of boost. I don't want to spend more than $7000 for the motor. Installation and tuning has already been worked out. What do you guys think? Any other suggestions are welcome.

will my whipple be any good to use on a 408? I was told it won't be able to do much. so that makes me think i should go with a built (forged) 6.0 setup instead. ???

for 600 rwhp...
and a large truck
id look at a 408 with a turbo that would hit boost early... say 2000-2500 .... thats mucho weight to move around so you need alot of down low power...
or just spin the crap outa that maggie

you dont really need a forged motor...W2W tested that on an otherwise stock LQ9 with springs and a few lil things and a fuel system they could safely make 600hp without the motor having a problem.Get a cam and maybe some heads and the fuel setup right and throw the whipple on and go have fun.

W2W made ~550 on a 4.8 with just 8psi on a turbo setup with only 42# injectors and a fuel pressure of 80.If you want insurance why not just get pistons and ARP rod and head bolts or head studs and some heads and a cam.itll save u quite a bit of money,itll make alot of power and itll be stronger.

well, that's a thought. The problem is, this is my daily driver. I'd have to buy a used 6.0 longblock or something and have it rebuilt then swap it into my truck. I'm trying to figure out which way makes the most sense, financially and otherwise. I know a 408 will make the most power but it is also the most expensive option. Then again, who's to say what kind of labor would go into just doing pistons, rods, cam, heads, bolts etc.
I'm leaning toward the FFHP setup. I've gotten other quotes on complete 408's and their's is close to the best price, plus Brad seems like a cool guy. I know there are bigger names out there but they are all much more expensive.
What if I bought the 402 shortblock from SDPC, WCCH heads, comp cam, arp head studs, used my stock rockers, pans, covers, manifold, tb, etc? Anyone have thoughts on that setup?
$3500 + 1300 + 350 + 250 + labor to put it all together and install it. I should be around $6000 right? before the fuel system upgrade if one is even needed

Save yourself some Cash on the fuel setup
The truck rails are huge and hold lots of fuel
A simple Double pump intank setup will be enough to help feed 700rwhp
Parish and myself have them parish has seen 1000rwhp with it
On the motor I think i know someone who has somthing for sale..
