Default Need some help here

I have an 01 z28 a4 w/ 3.23's. I put slp loudmouth exhaust on it with everything else stock and ran a 13.1. Last week i instaled a mti air lid and slp smooth bellow. I ran down atco last nite and i was actualy runnin slower than when i had the stock air lid on. Everytime when i came back to the pits my air lid kept poppin off on the one side. I also had mt street slicks on. I dont understand how the car wasnt going faster. Is it the slicks and cause the airlid kept poppin off?

When you put the air lid on make sure the front lip of the lid is on the inside of the airbox.

The lid is popping because the outter lip of the lid needs to sit INSIDE the grove of the lower lid assembly. You'll notice when you clamp it their will be much less pressure.

What were your 60 ft times?

Need to see the whole rundown on both slips to compare. I would say without a converter the MT's were making you bog.

Give us a full run down of your runs, both before the lid and slicks and after... Were you heating your slicks up well enough? I would expect better 60' with the slicks, what were your 60' times on your street tires? WHat was the weather like both days? Alot of little elements can add up to different times on different days.... Post your 2 best time slips from before and after and it should tell alot of info about whats different? Were your trap speeds the same?

What size are the slicks compared to your street tires? Also I would say your lid is coming up cause your bellow or lid isn't on properly double check them

On a stock convertered car w/3.23's ET Streets will usually slow you down a bit over the stock radials or a radial d.o.t. tire. If you're running the bias-ply ET Streets, try a set of 26" MT radial ET Streets, or a set of Nitto 26" Extreme Drags. Either one will be better than the bias ply ET Streets w/stock gears, stock converter, and stock tune. A stick car will respond way better to the bias ET Street tire, But overall, people are having WAY better success w/radial ET Streets with automatics. Your stock radial street tires are probably 25&3/4"-26" tall. Make sure you don't go any taller on the tires w/the 3.23 gear and stock setup or you are sure to slow down at the track. WJ Also: Use some duct tape to seal that lid around the seam. Either your clips are weak, or the upper part of the lid isn't fit into the lower channel of the airbox correctly. Anyway, at the track-seal it w/duct tape & it's the end of the problem. P.S. Some of the aftermarket lids have had some fitment problems mating up w/lower airbox assy. also.

i second what he said. when i put the bellows on my car i needed to trim almost a half inch off of it to have the lid seat properly. also like was also said the et streets are too much tire for a stock converter/stock geared a4. good times and traps for a stock a4. get a converter with those tires and i see 1.7x 60's in the near future. should get ya a 12.5 to 12.8 real easy.
