Default Patriot 232/230 cam..Installed..w/video!!

Well, all went well with my cam install this weekend.

I Started 8:30am on Saturday morning, worked till 4:00pm..then worked on it again Sunday from 9:00am till 1:00pm.

Took pics along the way as well. It went pretty smoothly. I installed the following:

Patriot cam 232/230 .580/.580 110lsa

Patriot "Gold" Dual Valve Spring kit (Comes with Titanium retainers, Super 7 Lock, machined bases, viton seals)

Comp Cams Chromemoly Pushrods

Idle is pretty choppy but I love it. Going to have a buddy of mine tune it tonight.

I didnt lose much low-end grunt at all. I expected to lose alot but its still damn peppy down low. Once it hits 3800-3900rpms it just rips and pulls HARD to 6k and still is pulling. We'll see how it does after we get rid of the 6k rev limiter and get it tweaked better.

To help out driveability I drilled the hole in the throttle body a little bigger. It now idles on its own just fine...runs pretty damn good for not being tuned. No surging or bucking.

I am extremely pleased with this cam. Thanks to Chris Straub for helping me out on all my questions.

Here is a link to the video of it idling.

It sounds even meaner in person.

Congrats on the install. Sounds like all went well for you. Besure to post some dyno #'s when you get them. BTW- is you car an A4 or M6?

Its quiet because I dont have longtubes on it yet. Stock exhaust other then magnaflow mufflers and 2.5" pipe from the mufflers to the tips.

Longtubes are coming soon. Its an M6

I didnt really find anyone that had used it before.

pretty damn crisp...a buddy of mine threw it on hp tuners and fixed my fuel trims as best he could.....it now feels stronger throughout the whole range..better then stock all the way around. Little better down low and it feels like a shot of Nitrous when it hits 4000 and up.

Great. If you want some more power out of it in the future add 1.8's to the intakes only. That will make it even quicker.

You would have to check clearance first.

LOL cam before long tubes. Wait till you add long tubes, bro. It's gonna add sooooooo much more, especially with that reverse-split cam.

I was the buddy that tried to help get him tuned. That reversion at low RPMS sends the trims all over the place, +10 to -10 and back again in the span of a few seconds in the same cell. We got it idle ok, but what other things can I do to limit bucking and such, or is he screwd because of a 110LSA and stock manifolds? I also think hes throwing misfire codes, is there something I can do about that as well?

Help 2 brothas out!

Edit - once we tuned it, I was surprised at how well it ran when cruising. It felt like stock, until you stomped on it, then it romped. People take note, even semi-agressive cams nowdays dont mean what they used too, a crappy around town car.
