Got a ticket for Radio Too Loud
So I was on my way to pick my little brother up from school with the T-Tops off, windows down and my STOCK system up a little. I noticed a motorcycle cop on the side of the road and checked my speed. I was going 15 in the 20 mph school zone, so I think I'm ok. Then I see the cop behind me with his lights on. I pull into the school's parking lot and he parks behind me. I hear him say to the woman behind him "I'm not stopping you ma'am. I'm just interested in him." So I stick my head out and ask him what I did. He said my radio was too loud.
There's a state law that regulates how loud your radio can be, but that requires a decibel meter to issue a ticket. However, there's a city ordinance that if your radio can be heard from 50 feet away, it's illegal. News to me. He told me it could cost up to $500! What the ****?! I just lost everything I owned to Hurricane Katrina. I've been fighting with FEMA to get some help. I'm working part time helping support my family, and now I get this ****. Now I'm really considering moving back to New Orleans.

Man, that blows. Not sure on the laws, but can you take the ticket to court and tell a judge all that? Stock stereo, picking brother up from school not like you were out with friends late at night, ect seems like you can get that dismissed. Good luck

they have an ordinance like that in Bryan, just north of College station. So I am boycotting Bryan businesses, b/c that law is bogus. It would be different if they had to prove something, but apparently the state trusts its officers, little do they know.

Holy crap of all the fraudulant ****....
I left a party once and had my stock monsoon up real high with the windows down, this guy in the parking lot turns around and yells "NICE SYSTEM!!" I just yelled back "IT'S STOCK!!!"
That's getting thrown out, the guy has no proof.

****, that is BS. My friends and I almost got arrested for my stereo being to loud at my bachelor party on the river! I have about $6000 invested in it and to say it can be heard from 50 feet away is like saying the Pacific ocean is damp. Cops are fucked up. Hope everything works out for you.

That sucks dude. Those systems on our cars aren't even that loud. However, I do agree on cops handing out tickets for those that want to rattle your house. Those bastards get on my nerves. Just fight it man. Like someone said ealier, tell the judge about your situation. Hopefully you'll get out of it.
