V6 Camaro with rear Z28 badging
I was on my way to school this morning and saw a red Camaro passing me, as it got next to me I looked to se if it had any badging at all, and on the side there was nothing. As soon as he got past me though I noticed that he had a Z28 badge and the bowtie on the rear panel, so I looked at the exhaust and it was just a stock V6 single ugly tailpipe exhaust. The guy got off on the same exit as me and I was able to get next to him. As he took off I heard nothing, the car was so quiet, now my only question is why would anyone do this to a V6 Camaro, that is just not right. I even understand the SS badging a Z28 after doing the apperance, suspension mods more so than this, and I am not a big fan of that either.

Yeah, there's some asshat here on campus with a white V6 that stuck Z28 badges on it.
However, there were some people who bought Flowmaster catbacks and had them fitted with the little turndowns to look like 6'ers. I've actually seen more than you'd think like this....

Im seeing this more often too. v6's w/ dual exhaust and badges. Im not a big fan of it but there is nothin you can do about it but laugh and shake your head. Why they think they have to do that is beyond me. I bought my z debadged and everyone looks down on me cause they think it is a v6.......Maybe that is why people do that, so they dont get people giving them crap about thier v6. I guess my main point is that if you are going to purchase a MUSCLE car such as a camaro or mustang you better get a v8 otherwise what is the point? but that is just me, Im a MUSCLE car enthusiast.

I test drove a 94' Camaro that had duel exhaust and it was a stick and right away i'm like you told me this was a v8 and he was like i thought it was, i pulled right around and parked and said thanks but no thanks. That guy is such an idiot. Now i have a 96' Ws6. I couldn't possibly ask for more.

Leave the v6s for the younger folk that couldn't afford a v8 insurance. That was my problem, it was between a black Trans Am and my red 94 v6. I went with the 94 v6 because I could afford the insurance and still have money left over to spend on mods. I'll never understand why people badge their car as something it isn't. When I had my car painted, they removed all of the badging, and I simply like the look -- but just so people don't get confused I'm going to be getting 3400 v6 decals. I have pride for my v6, it's just badly designed. Change the pistons, upgrade to the aluminum 3.1L heads (which statistically flow better than port and polished iron heads), and change the intake plenum, tada better performing 200hp 3.4L v6. Not bad IMO.

My car IS a Z28, and I have no side badges. Untill I finish my Berger panel with the retro badge, I just left the rear alone. But I also have two exhaust tips, and you can tell my cars a v8 at idle

I love it when people go "Wow, your car sounds like one mean LT1" because of my magnaflow exhaust. I always laugh and say "No, it's a v6." I know a few people around here that have z28 badged v6s. One guy's car is questionable, he bought it as is and it has a 3.4L engine in it, with rotors and every other sign of it being a v8. Not sure if the engine blew and the previous owner threw a 3.4L in, or if the previous owner really went that far and upgraded almost everything except the actual engine. On the other hand, there's the jokers that put z28 badges on their 93-96 Camaros with rear drums

That's nothing, a couple days ago I was cruising on the freeway and noticed a '97 Camaro coming up behind me (drl's), he passed me, I saw the single turn down exhaust and SS badges, NO HOOD, NO SPOILER, STOCK WHEELS, etc, THAT is lame, I threw up in my mouth when I saw that

I dont get all these kiddies crying about v8 insurance... I mean, when I was looking to see what my first car was going to be, the Difference between a coupe, and a z28 was five bucks a month... Maybe its just my area. To me these cars should have never came with v6's as a option... But to each their own.

you shouldnt bad mouth a v6, just has 2 less cylinders. but is perfectly cappable of puttin out the same power as the v8s. and insurance is pretty high for 16-17 yr old kids with a v8 muscle car now days. i too bought a v6 for my first fbody. and i loved it.
but yeah z28 badges on a v6 is stupid. but those 3800 decals are a nice touch
