Question Building a mostly street / some drag engine

i am currently researching what engine parts would be good to make a good street car with the posibility of some quick jump off the light kinda action. the main thing i know its gonna be is a 383 that i plan on having dual cross-over exaust with headers. i just need to make sure my car has enough space under the body. nice noise but also ***** to back it up if need be. the car is an 81 caprice. still has stock pretty much everything except that i rebuilt the engine last summer and over bored it a little bit from a 305. ive been watchin the price of pre-bored 383 blocks with-out any heads on them. basicly any info is good info.
thanks
