I didn't keep it. What is to regret? It cleans up the engine bay, and has no ill affect on the motor....

Getting a huge fine or failing inspection would be considered regretful.

I have no cats, so why keep the AIR pump!? You'll only fail emissions if you are throwing SES code or if they do a visual inspection. It make the engine bay look better too!

No cats, no AIR.

In Ohio you can get collector plates - no testing

Nope, I dropped it when I put on the LT's. No need, engine looks cleaner.

my friend regretted getting the AIR tube option.

we were in his car, and i said, "hey, i can hear a exhaust leak"

we get to his house and look underhood... the AIR pipe in the #1 exhaust port had started to come off.. you could see the blue fire going down the exhaust pipe.
he ended up breaking it off and having someone weld over teh hole...

plus, EVERYONE i know with headers, has eventually taken the AIR off.. so they now have useless tubes with blockoff plates.

just stay two steps ahead and get it without AIR... remove the pump. delete the codes in the PCM, and you'll be set. even if they look underhood, its not like it looks like something is missing.. the engine obviously doesnt have a "smog pump"....

where i am there may be a hard time passing emissions, but like someone said - there is no smog pump to be seen, so if some tubes were removed nobody would really know...Just make sure you're EGR and Cats are there if you want to pass...I can't get inspected because I have no EGR on my 01...but it's listed in emissions control devices that it's supposed to be there

i'll also be taking mine off whenever i put my headers on. it doesnt really serve any purpose, plus, like everyone has stated, makes the engine bay alot cleaner.

****, I dont know if mine are still on. I put in little block off plates in tubes on top of the header, so I dont think I took them off.

Is removing the AIR going to give any performance?

No. There is no performance gain except for weight reduction, if you've removed AIR associated parts, that is...

The car will emmit more polutants @ cold start.

Removed mine when I did the LT install, I would not have that crud in my car again especially with headers.
