Have you tried calling some of the local insurance agents to see what they can do? Some times they will cheaper than online quotes. I have famers insurance. I pay like 520 every six months. (21m single)

I'm 21 and paying $350 per 6 mo. on my 99 TA through allstate. Its listed as a recreational vehicle (driven less than 5000 mi/ year or something like that) cuz i also have a pickup truck which is around $800 every 6 mo. Both full coverage. Thats w/ good student discount(-$300) and a bunch of others and 1 ticket on my record no accidents

your location says chicago... do you actually live in the city? if so that could be a large part of it...

Insurance varies on age, driving history, and location (or at least those are the main things)

When I got my TA I was 20, and was paying about 2100/year under my dads name... but I had another car listed as my primary... then the TA was listed as a spare car/recreational vehicle (more cars than drivers)

don't even think about getting insurance in your name yet.... at 21 it should drop... 25 it'll drop even more (I turned 25 this year and insurance for both the TA and GTP , full coverage on both , is only 1800/year now)

May want to get a quote for a cheap crappy car, and have the TA listed as a recreational, non primary vehicle ....

BTW I know a kid thats 19 who had an 02 WS6 who was paying around $4000 every 6 months (His parents are loaded) He has totalled 3 cars since he was 16. All of em being his fault.

Horist is exactly right. Location, location, location. People actually in (or very near) to Chicago pay a lot more with all else being equal.

I'm over 25.
I have a clean record.
I'm married.

I pay $430 every 6 months for the Z28, and $340 for the Bonneville. Both full coverage through State Farm.

That would be down quite a bit if I didn't live just a couple blocks away from Chicago.

I would call them instead. Location changes the price, but not THAT much (at least I would hope not). Everytime I do an online quote thing, its always extremely high, and I dont pay very much for my insurance.

How is your record? Have you filed a lot of claims with Insurance companys, had a lot of traffic violations that went on your record?
I thought paying 1600 every 6 months was a lot, and I am 22 unmarried, not in school .I live Chicago.

Wow, why is everyone paying so much for insurance?! I have never had to pay more than $100 a month for full coverage and like I said I always up it and add things I don't need just to help cover myself.

i only read part of these so im sure its been stated to the extream that unless your drivers record is terrable, 4000 is extreamly high, i pay 1000 and thats with a total loss (at my own fault) 2 months after i got my own insurance.
