Default Thinner head gasket OR Milling Heads?

Does milling the Heads have the same result as putting a thinner Head Gasket? Which way is the best to achieve more compression? Deck the block? Shave the heads241? or Thinner head gaskets (cometics)?

If I remember correctly I think the basic rule of thumb is for every .005 you take out of the gasket is equal to .0075 milling the head. Both are removing 1 cc from the chamber. Therefore the choice is basically up to you, both will impact valvetrain geometry and p to v clearance. The only real difference is that changing the gasket will impact your quench.

ASk the maker of the heads which is better

My understanding is dont mill so much off the heads, and get the thinner gasket.

BUT, the problem with the thinner gasket is, they are more likely to blow with additional power adders

As above: Within reason, you should use a thinner gasket, down to whatever minimum squish height (see relevent thread) you are comfortable with. This will give a greater CR gain than the same amount off the head, because the chamber is less than a full circle. (it's the 'air' you machine that reduces chamber voume) as well as the benefit of better squish.

What would be the optimum quench distance? I would like to raise my compression to 11:1 and I have 241 heads that I plan on getting ported here locally. Since my motor is just a long block right now any changes are easily made. I also have a TSP225 cam that I haven't installed yet.
