Borla w or w/o cut out
i recently bought a used borla for my 99 WS6, it came with two intermediate pipes:
1. regular pipe: only thing it it is banged up at one end and i think it may leak if i use it
2. i pipe w/ cut out welded in the middle: don't know if this will hurt the performace of the system?
Any help would greatly be appreciated.

If the I pipe that has no cutout can be made round enough to not leak I would use that, less clutter. You really dont need a cutout on the Borla because you basicly have a cutout when you remove the plate.
I dont see the cutout on the other I pipe hurting the performance of the system either.

a borla is basicly a cutout anyways whenever you don't have a plate in it. It is not as loud as a cutout before the axle but there is no drone in the car like there is with a cutout. It really just depends on how loud you want it to be.

i want my car to sound good (i like the sound of the borla) i have never heard a car with a cut out open. i am going to try to make the damaged end as round as possible and install that one.
then cross my finger there are not leaks: by the way how does a leak sound?

A leak that far back you may not even hear if its not that bad. If it were up front around the collector it might sound like a tick. If you hear it it will sound like a fluter back there.
I bet if you use a bandclamp it will seal up, especially if you put some hi temp rtv on it before hand.
