I've heard of people doing this before, but I'm not exactly sure what the benefit of doing this is, rather than using 3" mufflers.. Can someone shed some light on the subject for me, thanks!

Some mufflers (if you can even call them that) like sweet thunders for instance "neck down" to 2.5 id. Some people say that hurts flow but on say for instance dumped duals, I can't see it hurting the "average" car. Furthermore most members have agreed the sound is worth the loss or a little power.
