Pace Setter AND Flowtech LT question. Why are the Pace Setter and Flowtech LT headers so cheap? There like 300 bucks for the black ones or 370 for the silver coated. But then the SLP, QTP, and Kooks are like 750 bucks. What gives?
Id like to buy either the Flowtech or Pace Setter black headers for like 300. Will they rust and not fit good? Is that why they are cheap? The saying "you get what you pay for" keeps ringing in my head on this one.

Well SLP, QTP, and Kooks are all stainless steel headers. Very unlikely that they will rust. Pacesetters anf flowtech are just coated and painted. If you have the money get kooks. If your strapped for cash get pacesetters IMO. Pacesetters fit like a glove. Then again the others fit well to but pacesetter is known for the fitment especially on the newer headers. If you live up north in the snow and such go stainless for sure. Performance gains from what i have seen are all around the same not much of a difference.

My pacesetters fit really well and were easy as hell to install. They've got some surface rust after 7 months but nothing bad. It'll be many many years before they have to be replaced and I got them for $400 shipped. Needless to say I'm a happy camper. Don't know too much about flowtechs but I'm pretty sure they come with 1/4" flanges which is pretty shitty.

my flowtechs are rusting a bit by the collectors... and the flange is slightly bent from torquing - do the pacesetters have a bigger flange?
either way, i've been happy with the performance of the flowtechs - they're coated btw.

I have flow tech and they perform very well but the fit is a little tight and they do bang every once in a while any way you go get coated it droped my under hood temps by 15-20* granted this is on an almost stock car but that is still nice to see.

I'm not sure if pacesetter makes a catted y-pipe but you can get one from TSP for $3xx and that should bolt up to your stock catback. Worst case scenario would be that you'd have to buy a small section of pipe. You could always just get true duals 
.

I just did flowtechs on mine, they fit very well other than trying to reach the damn bolts.
As for the cats??? if you're meaning keeping your cats, then you will have to do some pipe fabbing on your part. The cats were originally part of the down piping. With headers, the cats will now be located in the Y-pipe.
Now, if you're referring to the cat back, yes, the flowtech ORY slides right into to stock or aftermarket replacement cat back system. 2 each 2.5" Y's into a 3" collector that feeds the I-pipe. My ORY slid right into my Hooker catback that I had with my stock Y and exh.
Now it sounds 10 times better and runs 20 times better. I dropped .3 to .4 in the 1/8th with just header and ORY (mid 8.9 down to low 8.6)

go with Pacesetters over the Flowtechs, I had flowtechs, and when you torque them to the head the flange bends. The Pacesetters are better qaulity imo, I have a set of those now. My Flowtechs were also rusting pretty bad.
I would go with Kooks if you have the cash, but if not go with pacesetters on a budget....
