Bye bye 300C... hello SRT-8!
I really like my 300C but it's been hard driving it around knowing that there is a bigger motor available so I jumped online today and located a silver 300 SRT-8 in NJ. I'm lucky to pay sticker for this one. Most dealers are getting $10k or more over sticker. The 300C is rated at 340hp from the factory (flywheel hp) and the SRT-8 is rated at 425. It's a heavy car but it still runs low 13s and there has been some owners reporting 12.8/12.9 stock. Not bad for something that isn't really a sports car.
So it will be out with -

I really like the looks of the 300C. Thought about going with an SRT-8 Charger but kept looking at my C and thinking that's what I want, just with the bigger motor. Very smooth motor!

I plan on keeping the factory wheels. This will probably be the first time in years that I do that. I think they give the car "the look" to let everyone know that it is difference than the 300C. I might have them chromed. I'll decide on that after I get the car.
The Grand Cherokee will be fun with the 6.1!

cars are awsome...ive driven a few myself here at the dealer i work at and man...amazing power. nothing compared to my f-body but for a 4door luxury car, you cant beat it.
guy that hangs out with us on the weekends has one and he ran a 12.8 with his with only cat back exhaust system. hes gonna be doin some more stuff to it this winter...cant wait to see it out again when the weather breaks with a cam headers and a 75shot..
supposedly a cam swap in these things give your something like 75hp?? is this true? thats awsome if its true.

There is probably fine print under that 75hp ad that said "with long tubes, custom tuning and other bolt-ons" I've heard Comp is working on some cams for this motor. They are supposed to really wake it up. I want this to continue to feel like a luxury car so I won't go to crazy with mods. Hopefully there is aftermarket programming available soon. That and an induction would be good. Don't want to touch the exhaust but a supercharger could be the one big mod that gives it a boost.

So I guess a comparable car to the 300C srt-8 is the Caddy CTS-v.
I do like the new HEMI motors. My dad has a Rumble Bee or whatever the short bed RAM's are called and it's pretty quick for a big truck. He did a cold air intake and some plug-n-play programmer and the truck chirps the tires on the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts. Pretty freakin sweet.
I'm trying to convince him to get a set of headers and a higher stall 'verter for it.

The 300C is usually matched with the CTS-V. The GTO guys have also have alot of interest in the Hemi cars. They have been running pretty close to eachother on the street and track.

My friend just ordered a SRT 8 Charger in silver from Harr Dodge in Worcester, Ma. He had to pay full sticker, but not over. They haven't given him a delivery date, as of yet. Placed order 2 wks. ago. Anyone know how heavy these cars are? WJ

Congratulations on the SRT/8 ..
Both the 300C and the Charger are kick @ss!
Luxury and performance done quite well.
In fact I believe its one of the best combinations right from the factory.

I haven't seen any on the street yet. Only saw one other 300 SRT-8 on the street besides mine. That was at the Sams Club car show during the summer. It had manufacturer's plates on it.
Brought mine home a little while ago. The car is awesome! I was impressed with my 300C but this blows it away in more ways than one. The seats are sporty but VERY comfortable. Plenty of options (6 disk changer, NAV, HIDs, back-up sensors, all power, Brembo brakes, 20" wheels ect...). The suspension is a little firmer than my 300C was but the ride is still good. Handling is much better. Tested that out when I almost went right instead of my exit to the left in NJ. Fuel economy is about 2.5 MPG less than the 300C. I got 22.6 on the way to the dealer and the SRT-8 got 20.2 on the way home. Those numbers were based on doing 70-80 MPH most of the way. I filled the new car up about 50 miles from home and did 65 for awhile. Mileage jumped up to 21.3 so I guess it does help to drive slower. As for power, I had to lay into it a few times just before I got to my house. 60-120 goes by very quickly. Also, the tires get very pissed off when laying into it from about 25 MPH. They started screaming! Actually, they were so upset they started to smoke! I figured that wasn't good for their health or my wallet so I was nice to them the rest of the way home
